MY BRACES EXPERIENCE + TIPS!

Hello!
Today I decided to talk about:

Yaay! So,on Monday I had my braces taken off and I thought it would be a fun idea to talk about my experience putting them on,having them and taking them off.So lets get started!

Firstly,I am going to tell you a little bit of a background story. My teeth before braces were terrible.I don't even want to post a picture here because I hated them so much and I'm a bit embarrassed. My lower teeth are and have always been perfectly straight so I never even wore braces on them, just on my upper teeth.Few of my teeth were apart, some of them were way in the back and some way in the front.I never used to smile and always hated my teeth so much.I didn't have an overbite, that is the part of the reason why I didn't wear braces for the super long time.

GETTING THEM ON:

I got my braces on December 18th 2014.!I knew that it is going to hurt and it isn't going to be comfortable but it was all so worth it.The process of getting them on is honestly not bad at all.The orthodontist glues the brackets onto your teeth and just puts a wire through the brackets and tightens.
.At first,it feels very weird and tight but you get used to it.For me,the pain didn't start until couple hours later. The orthodontist gave me a list of things that I shouldn't do while I have my braces on such as:biting into an apple, eating hard candy, chewing gum etc.I got my braces on in the morning and the pain didn't start until late afternoon/evening.And I'm not going to lie,it does hurt  but it lasts only for about 3 days and then the pain slowly starts going away. After a week it doesn't hurt pretty much at all and you can eat normally. The fist few days I could only eat soft foods such as soup,yogurt..I remember not being able to bite into a pancake. But now looking back on it,you barely even remember the pain after having them on for some time.

TIPS ON DEALING WITH PAIN:
The number one thing that helped me the most is ICE CREAM!!I ate ice cream all day everyday, although it was December.Anything cold will help.I would drink a lot of cold water and hold some ice in my mouth.I would always do that before bed because it would help a lot with pain and I would fall asleep easier. If you can't deal with the pain you can take pain killers but I never really did.

HAVING THEM ON:

I loved my braces.I got so used to them and they didn't really bother me at all.My orthodontist gave me wax to put on the brackets if they would scratch the inside of my cheeks. But that didn't really happen to me.Maybe two to three times. My teeth moved so quickly! After only few months the difference was huge!In the summer my teeth were already super straight.I never had to wear bands and tightening my braces never really hurt me.My wire did come out a few times. If that happens, please don't panic because I did and now looking back it was stupid. You can go to your orthodontist and he will put it back,or you can do it on your own like I did.My brackets never broke.

TIPS ON HAVING THE BRACES ON:
Never ever bite into an apple.Be careful when eating anything hard.I did chew gum, if you do,be careful as well.Brush your teeth at least three times a day.If you need to,wear your bands as much as possible because your teeth will get better sooner.

TAKING MY BRACES OFF:

I took my braces off on January 11th 2016.I had them on  for a year and little bit less than a month. The process of taking them off wasn't painful at all.The orthodontist just brakes the brackets and takes the whole thing out.The worst part is scratching the glue off,but that isn't so bad after all.It is a bit uncomfortable, but not painful. At fist it was so weird looking myself in the mirror with these beautiful teeth. They seemed so much smaller with braces. And they feel a bit slimy. The orthodontist gave me my retainer that I have to wear if I don't want my teeth to go back to how they used to be.Fist I have to wear it at night and during the day when I don't eat or drink, and later only in the night time.

I absolutely love the results from my braces. My teeth are so perfect and straight now.I can finally smile!I feel so much more happy and confident. My overall braces experience was amazing!Hopefully this was helpful for some of you.Thank you for reading!

Did you ever wear braces? How was it?If not, would you want to get them?

  2. I used to have braces when I was smaller, but my upper teeth never aligned perfectly straight. I am actually contemplating on getting some again now that I am grown up, but I am not sure yet.

  4. Uuugh, I'm jealous of you. I've had my braces on since March 2014, and I'm still waiting for them to get removed. I was suppose to get them removed in less than a year but problems arose I had to get them put on a little longer. Oh well....
